Ipswich Waterfront Festival

Event Date(s)

22/06/2019 - 23/06/2019 - 2 day(s)

Information For Trader/Participants

A return to Ipswich Waterfront which showed great promise in 2018 and this year we are partnering with the Suffolk Pride Festival whose procession ends up at the waterfront and delivers an additional 3 000 visitors to our event. The Ipswich Jazz Festival is also taking place this weekend which also promise to create synergy in an action packed weekend for the town.

Although as with many events in summer last year, World Cup Football did affect visitor numbers. With England beating Panama 6-1 that weekend, we did try to look on the Brightside! Despite the football, it was a very acceptable weekend's trade and with the Marina area ever growing in popularity, we are expecting a strong event this June.

The new focal point for Ipswich, its waterfront is a hugely attractive destination with a marina, swish new residential developments and an ideal event space as part of the offer. A new bridge is soon to connect the town with the waterfront and make for easier access and past events have shown just how busy Orwell Quay can get as locals and visitors alike take advantage of its wonderfully relaxed environment.

Interesting Facts About The Venue

Ipswich has undergone extensive rebuilding and a gentrification, principally around the waterfront. Though this has turned a former industrial dock area into an emerging residential and commercial centre, its completion was at the expense of much of the town's industrial and maritime heritage and in spite of efforts made by a local civic group, The Ipswich Society. Much of this development is residential, marketed to affluent DINKs.
