Themed market events will run in Eastbourne’s Grand Parade this summer

Fans of shopping and specialist food and drink are in for a treat as a series of themed market events will run in Eastbourne this spring and summer.

Market events specialist the Market Square Group will began with a World Village Market from at the start of April and the next event starts on April 29.

Each of the events will offer its own unique attraction, but all will be located in Eastbourne's Grand Parade promenade.

The majority of the markets will coincide with one of the town’s big tourist attractions, like Magnificent Motors and the Aegon International Tennis Championships.

The calendar of events is:

  • Eastbourne May Day Vintage Bank Holiday Market – vintage, collectables, food - April 29 to May 2 – to coincide with Magnificent Motors
  • Eastbourne Whitsun Bank Holiday Market – world food and drink - May 27 to 30 – to coincide with Beer & Cider by the Sea and the Aegon Eastbourne Trophy
  • Eastbourne Midsummer Market – food, craft and clothing - June 16 to 19 – to coincide with Aegon International Opening
  • Eastbourne 999 Weekend – Best of British food and craft - June 30 to July 3 – to coincide with the 999 Weekend and Tour of Sussex cycle ride
  • Eastbourne August Bank Holiday Weekend – food, craft, clothing, accessories - August 26 to 29
  • Eastbourne September – antiques, collectables, arts, crafts, food - September 8 and 11 – runs to coincide with Proms on the Lawns and the Steampunk Festival

Applications are now being taken from traders and businesses who want to run stalls.

Paul Kennedy, Director at Market Square Group said: “This will be the first time we have come to Eastbourne and with a busy calendar of markets lined up we can’t wait for the season to begin.

“We know this town really comes to life during the summer months and the Grand Parade promenade will be the place for visitors to browse and enjoy our varied food and trade stalls.

“We are now appealing for traders to get in touch with us for any of the seven events. Each will have a theme, for example the World Village Market has a focus for exotic world cooking, so contact us to discuss the best options available to you.”

Market Square Group has put on similar market events up and down the UK since 2009.
