Best of British Themed Market

Home Comforts!

The time has come to look at what we have on our doorstep. It makes sense for a number of reasons:

  • boosting local economies
  • reducing carbon emissions,
  • increasing tracibility of goods,
  • supporting traditions and recipes that are in danger of being forgotten

and quite simply, the foods, crafts and skills that the UK can call upon are are a hugely valuable asset to the country as a whole.

Policy

It has always been our policy to invite local traders to our events - we have found that there foods are the freshest and that there local crafts are often unique to the area. Taking this idea further, we are now forming a Best of British Market that will stand up to any other themed event and stand out for the quality and originality that it contains. With the Olympics just around the corner, it is the perfect time to build events that convey our national identity.

Products

There are many products that are considered quintessentially Britsh - Harris Tweed, Shortbread, Marmelade and Chutney, Scones and Cream, Stilton Cheese, Scrumpy, Fudge, Barbour Jackets; add to these the rich variety of foods from India, Thailand and the Caribbean that have are now staple to our nation and it isn't difficult to see how attractive the Best of British can be.

Regions

Most of the above mentioned will have their regional variations, perhaps a subtle distinction of taste and sometimes a proud regional indentifier. We will endeavour to include the local specialities at each venue, and as a result you can expect the Best of British Market to both reflect the the identity of the local area and present those products that we consider best suit the event. The overriding aim, however, is to promote that which is hand crafted, home made and native to the UK with some consideration given to British design that has, for good reason, been produced abroad.

Exporting the Theme

We see the Best of British Market as a vehicle for the promotion of British Tourism and British Innovation. We invite inquiries from towns holding special events, regional tourism boards and cutural event organisers abroad. The Best of British Market would also be an asset to any trade bodies looking to establish export footholds or increase the profile of British Goods abroad.

Traders and Products

Inquiries from traders who are looling for a new line and producers who have products to wholesale and or promote are welcome. We will do all we can to match to you up!
